Sherry Grable
Senior Consultant
Role description
As a Senior Consultant I use my experience to guide clients through their journey. Remembering that I was once a new user involved in implementing and learning a new system, I reflect on that experience to empathize and ease the anxiety of our clients moving through this process. I lead clients through new implementations, upgrades, and user training sessions. I perform system reviews to improve inefficiencies, provide best practice advice, and assist in developing procedures to use the system while maintaining checks and balances.
What is your favorite part of being a part of the Deltek Community?
Everyone is willing to help. Whether you are new to the community and attending your first ProjectCon, or a long-time superuser at your 10th conference, you can connect with those willing to help. Whether they aid with their personal experience, or by networking and connecting you with someone who can provide more expertise, you will find someone to take you under their wing. The Community stretches well beyond the conferences resulting in career-long networking and friendships. You meet professionals from all stages of a career path to collaborate with and develop lasting connections.
Why did you choose your career path?
Networking and building relationships have helped my career path evolve into what it is today. With my accounting background, interest in software, and passion for training and teaching others, this role fell into place. When one of my previous employers changed to Deltek Vision, I was part of the team that configured/implemented the system and trained our staff. This experience and our consultants started the Deltek learning bug that led me in this direction.
What inspires you to get up in the morning?
In every position I have held, I work to help those around me (team members, staff, clients) improve their processes, develop solutions to pain points, and find ways to make their tasks easier and more efficient. Throughout my life and career, I have had others who helped me navigate difficult situations and tasks. I want to do the same for others and I always hope it makes a difference for them, like it did for me. Even if it feels like a small task from my perspective, it might make a huge difference for the person I am helping. We never know what someone else is facing, so every little bit of assistance helps.
What is a bucket list destination you haven’t visited yet?
I love beautiful landscapes, awe-inspiring views, and learning the history of where I am visiting. There are so many beautiful beaches, mountain views, and amazing historical sites around the world that I would love to see in person, so it is hard to pick just one. If anyone has suggestions, please, pass them along!
